Welcome!

Thank you so much for joining us at our Spring Concert for 2019! Our theme this season is "Rise", and we hope that our repertoire selections will give you much inspiration and food for thought around this powerful word. Over the course of the concert, the singers in front of you will literally rise, becoming taller and taller as we move from our youngest ensemble to our eldest. And just as the music rises in complexity as our singers' ages and heights rise, each individual singer has also been through a learning process at their own particular level, growing and developing over months of rehearsals, and finally rising to the occasion to share this music with you.

Today, we celebrate not only the results, but the process of rising, the beautiful optimism of looking ahead and upward and reaching for something better. We know that the rising process is rarely smooth and never easy-- so we also celebrate resilience, the capacity to maintain a spark of hope in even the darkest circumstances, the undeniable thrill of the comeback. Most of all, we celebrate the magic of rising together. As choral singers, our individual rising is tied to that of the entire ensemble, and we all simultaneously lift and are lifted.

As an organization, Shine Children's Chorus rises too. This year we took the big step of becoming a stand-alone non-profit organization, a change that brings with it many exciting opportunities to further our mission: "to nurture human connection through music". In order to maintain the high level of programming that Shine is known for, while also achieving our goals of greater equity of access and sustainability, there is no way around it: we need community support. If you believe in what we are doing here today, please consider making a donation to help us kick off our fundraising campaign!

On behalf of all of our singers, thank you for coming to our show, and we hope you enjoy!

Sincerely,
Lauren Fitzgerald, Founder + Executive/Artistic Director

P.S. We are proud to present our first digital concert program! (If you'd like to have a paper program to save as a keepsake, you can download a printer-friendly PDF here.)
